Site of the week 4/3

Cara Mckinley's web project

1. What role does interactivity/non-linearity play in the representation of the historical narrative? (if the work utilizes hyperlinks)

The interactivity of the website was limited in terms of clicking on hyperlinks and then watching a movie of text telling you a story on Copernicus. It simply links to other webpages with information about Copernicus.

2. How has the narrative been effected by the method of appropriation used? (what information do you take from the site that you don't think is present just in the narrative alone)

The style the site was made in is very stark and too the point much like a scientist would be. Also the text animation goes rather fast which I imagine is what it is like to talk to a man of science and extreme intellect. I think the overall style added to the narrative by putting the user in the correct atmosphere.

3. Discuss something that you think is successful about the site and something that seems to fail. (be as precise as possible as to the what and why)

The video was successful because it was able to simulate what a conversation would be like with a someone like Copernicus even though the narrative was just about him and not "him" speaking. An unsuccessful part of the website would be the other links. They are static and limit interactivity.
